Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (1990)

A 90’s kid sleepover staple, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game isn’t quite the same as the original, but stands on its own two feet, despite the technical limitations of the NES. There are a few differences, like stages and bosses, that help set the game apart from its big brother. The soundtrack, in true Konami NES audio fashion, is also more memorable than the arcade soundtrack. Best played with a friend (good luck finishing it by yourself) and with the 9 lives cheat (up, right, right, down, down, down, left, left, left, left, B, A, start on the title screen, you’re welcome)!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

  1. The flames licking the bottom of the screen warm my soul.

    1. Especially amazing considering how few colors they could show at once!
